In 2019, I took a leap of faith and started my first business, a cleaning company with a strong vision and the determination to do things the right way. Like many first-time entrepreneurs, I wanted my business structured properly from the start. I went to file what I believed was an LLC, trusting the clerks guidance I received that same day.

 

Later, I discovered my business had been filed as a sole proprietorship, not an LLC as intended.

 

That experience was disappointing and discouraging. I had been clear about my goals, yet I left the process misinformed, and unsure of my next steps. But instead of allowing that setback to stop me, I made a decision that changed everything. I committed to learning the ins and outs about business formation, structure, and compliance so I would never be in that position again.

 

As I continued learning, I realized how common my experience truly was.
